Down Memory Lane…..

Our lovely residents at St Peter’s really enjoyed a terrific reminiscence session this week. Using memory boxes they reflected on and remembered events and things they did in the past. Using pictures, memorabilia, and scents they used to use brought back lots of memories for them all. Everyone had a really enjoyable time and they are looking forward to more great memories in the next session.

Happy Birthday Godfrey!

Our lovely Orchard House resident Godfrey celebrated his 80th birthday recently, with his loving family and the Orchard House staff. Sam, our care planner, made his beautiful cake, and his family brought lots of sweets, pastries, and more. Of course, there were lots of cards and presents to make the day even more special.

Everyone had a fantastic time and Godfrey would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who worked so hard to make his Birthday one to remember!

Afternoon Tea anyone?

Residents at Orchard House were treated to a delicious afternoon tea last Tuesday. There were lots of cakes, different kinds of pastries, and tea and coffee, which our Residents enjoyed very much. Many thanks to our kitchen team who made it all possible. The treats were so tasty it didn’t take long before there was nothing left but crumbs!

Enjoying the sunshine and the music

Residents at Balmore House had a terrific day enjoying the warm weather yesterday. Sitting in our courtyard, and eating some ice lollies, they were given a lovely musical treat by local entertainer Charlotte who brought along her saxophone. Everyone loved singing along to some of their favourite tunes.

Enjoying remembering!

All the residents of Balmore Country House thoroughly enjoyed themselves yesterday as they took part in the home’s celebrations for the 80th anniversary of VE Day. There was a lovely spread for everyone to enjoy and lots of music. Residents particularly enjoyed singing along to some of the old wartime songs. Of course, there was a more serious side to the day and they spent quite a bit of time swapping stories about their memories of the war and the post was peace. An important day for everyone.

Like your style!

One of our lovely residents at Orchard House, Judy Muncey, helped out our hairdresser today. She used to work as a hairdresser and really misses the buzz of the salon. She was terrific and our ladies were more than happy with the finished results.

VE DAY Celebrations…

A terrific day was had by everyone at Orchard House yesterday as we celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The home looked really lovely – lots of flags and bunting – old posters from the time reminded us of the important messages that were given out to the public during wartime.

We had a great party and there was lots of laughter and everyone seemed to enjoy bouncing balloons off each other! Importantly we also took time to remember all those who gave their lives during the war – a reminder of the importance of peace. We hope you had a great VE Day.

A classic day out!

It was great to see the lovely residents of The Ruddington teaming up with residents from Balmore Country House last weekend and going on a trip to the Classic Car Show at Ruddington Park. The amazing cars on show prompted a lot of memories and we heard some fabulous stories about the cars our residents had owned, and ridden in, back in the day. Here are some of their favourites and some lovely pictures of everyone having a great day out!

A lovely trip out….

St Peter’s resident Rosamund, had a great trip out yesterday to the village market. Lots of stalls and plenty to see. Of course, you can’t go out to the market without stopping for coffee and cake! She thoroughly enjoyed her trip and is looking forward to the next one.
