Easter Fun…..

Staff and residents at St Peter’s have had a lovely Easter weekend. The home looked lovely decked out with some Easter decorations and we had a terrific time on Sunday taking part in an easter egg hunt. Particularly popular were the bunny rabbit ears glasses. We’re not sure they will make it to the catwalks of Paris but we enjoyed them.

Lots of fun all round.

A great start to Easter….

Residents at St Peters had a fantastic morning with entertainment from Richie Lee for an Easter singalong. As well as enjoying this residents have been gearing up for the Easter holiday by making some fantastic decorations.

The home looks very eggtastic!

What a tangle!….

The only problem with knitting is that sometimes all the different balls of wool can get into a bit of a mess. Well here at Balmore we have some very dedicated residents who will work tirelessly to sort things out. Cue a picture of Barbara and Kathleen doing just that – making everything ready for another knit and natter session.

Thank you ladies!

A great show!….

It’s always nice to welcome entertainers Kevin and Marie to our homes and this week was no exception. This time they laid on a double treat for us – a combined St Patrick’s and Mother’s Day concert. Lots of costumes, lots of laughs and some great songs which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you to both of them for such a great show!

A lovely present….

Residents and staff at Orchard House were thrilled to receive a terrific Mother’s Day gift from the 1st Ruddington Scouts and Beaver Scouts. They brought us beautiful pots of daffodils – guaranteed to brighten up the home and put a smile on all our faces.

What a lovely thought and a great Spring gift.

Enjoying the games!….

It was eyes down for a full house this week at Balmore when we held one of our regular Bingo sessions. Our residents can get surprisingly competitive, so it was full concentration as the calls came out. Lots of excitement when ‘house’ was finally declared.

A great activity for keeping engagement high and the mind sharp!

Great to support local children…..

Since getting together just under a year ago Clifton AW U12 Red have had a tough time, getting relegated in their very first season as a team. Fast forward a few months and they’re currently flying in their league having won all four of their games and are top of the league with four games left to play. Their coach has sent Ruddington Retirement Village a big thank you as we are their current sponsors and have helped with kit funding this year.

We hope they keep riding high and don’t they look great in their kit!

Lunch from across the pond…..

Last week Balmore residents enjoyed an American inspired day of food. They enjoyed pancakes and bacon at breakfast. Lunch included burgers, chicken steaks, Mac n Cheese, then fruit lattice pie with ice cream and cheesecake for dessert.

Our residents really enjoyed everything and they are thinking of trying Mexican next!!

A creative community….

That’s what we seem to have here at Balmore. Residents were very pleased to welcome back Creative Paths to help us in one of our arts and crafts sessions last week. They provide arts-led creative and reminiscence workshops. They have a unique skill set which embraces creativity, care and educational skills and this has enabled them to provide impactful services that have increased residents’ engagement with others, their well-being, and their confidence.

It was a great fun session and no doubt we will see them again.

Staying healthy….

Many thanks to Sophie from G Fitness, who last week came to Balmore and helped our residents stay fit and healthy. Her indoor exercise sessions are thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who takes part and are great for keeping joints and limbs moving.

It’s really to us that our residents stay in the best physical condition possible, and G Fitness are an important part of making that happen.
